Medved, a graduate of Roseville Area High School, began his coaching career with a season as an assistant under Dan Monson at Minnesota.

TDG Candidate Profile
The short version of Medved’s track record is clear: he has successfully revived both Furman and Colorado State after challenging seasons, and now the goal is to do the same at Minnesota. His teams are known for their smart offensive play, and he has a strong reputation for recruiting and developing talented players.

Medved’s Career

  • 1997–1999: Macalester – Assistant Coach
  • 1999–2006: Furman – Assistant Coach under Larry Davis
  • 2006–2007: Minnesota – Assistant Coach under Dan Monson (final season)
  • 2007–2013: Colorado State – Assistant Coach under Tim Miles, then Larry Eustachy
  • 2013–2017: Furman (62–70 overall, 33–37 in conference)
  • 2017–2018: Drake (17–17 overall, 10–8 in conference)
  • 2018–2025: Colorado State (143–85 overall, 78–50 in conference)

Medved’s most recent season was his best yet as a head coach, leading a team projected to finish 7th in the Mountain West to a 2nd-place finish and a tournament title. His Rams earned a 12-seed in the NCAA tournament, where they upset Memphis and gave Maryland a tough game, leading for most of the contest before a controversial buzzer-beater ended their run.

Medved and his wife, Erica (a former pitcher for Furman’s softball team), are returning to Minnesota with their two young daughters to be closer to family. Over the next few weeks, Medved will face the challenge of retaining and building his roster for next season while assembling his coaching staff and settling his family into their new home.
