The Seattle Seahawks are making waves in free agency with a big signing.
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Seahawks have agreed to a deal with former Super Bowl MVP and ex-Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
Kupp, a Yakima native and Eastern Washington University alum, is returning to his home state after being released by the Rams earlier this week. Now, he’ll have the chance to face his former team twice a season as a member of their NFC West rival.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Kupp has signed a three-year, $45 million contract with Seattle, averaging $15 million per year.
Kupp is best remembered for his historic 2021 season, during which he recorded 145 receptions for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns, helping lead the Rams to a Super Bowl victory. That performance cemented him as one of the league’s elite receivers.
However, injuries have plagued him in recent seasons, causing him to miss 18 games over the past three years and preventing him from reaching the 1,000-yard mark since 2021. Despite these setbacks, he remains a talented playmaker with the potential to be a key weapon in Seattle’s offense.
In Seattle, Kupp is expected to be the No. 2 target for quarterback Sam Darnold, playing alongside rising star Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who had a breakout season in 2024.
With Kupp and Smith-Njigba forming a strong receiving duo, the Seahawks aim to exceed expectations and make a push for the playoffs in what promises to be a competitive NFC West race.
