According to Wiltfong, Oregon has the most talented Transfer Portal class based on the On3 Industry’s average ranking per commit. The Ducks have made major strides, bringing in three top offensive linemen, two standout defensive backs from the Indianapolis area, and even securing the top running back in the portal. Under head coach Dan Lanning, Oregon has significantly improved its roster.
While it’s still to be seen how all the transfers will mesh together, Oregon’s continued success under Lanning suggests a promising season ahead. The Ducks have landed notable transfer commitments, including running back Makhi Hughes (Tulane), offensive linemen Emmanuel Pregnon (USC) and Isaiah World (Nevada), wide receiver Malik Benson Florida State, defensive lineman Bear Alexander (USC), cornerback Theran Johnson (Northwestern), safety Dillon Thieneman (Purdue), offensive lineman Alex Harkey (Texas State), and tight end Jamari Johnson (Louisville).
The additions of World and Pregnon strengthen Oregon’s offensive line, while Hughes is expected to make an immediate impact after a stellar season at Tulane, rushing for 1,401 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2024.
On defense, Thieneman, who had six interceptions in 2023, is expected to be a key contributor. Lanning praised his ability to cover the field, calling him a talented player who consistently finds himself around the ball.
Oregon has also seen several departures from the portal, including safety Tyler Turner (Baylor), quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele (Cal), and others, while former receiver Ryan Pellum remains available following legal issues.
