“Seahawks Lose Key Coach as He Returns to College Football”

January 10, 2025

The Seattle Seahawks have lost a member of their coaching staff as Zak Hill has decided to return to college football. Hill, who served as an offensive assistant and quality control coach for the Seahawks, is rejoining Boise State University. He previously spent several years there as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In his new role, Hill will be the quarterbacks coach again, in addition to taking on the title of passing game coordinator.

Like several other assistants under Mike Macdonald, Hill had no previous NFL experience when he joined the Seahawks. A native of Oregon and former Central Washington quarterback, Hill has mostly held coaching positions at the high school and college levels in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington, making his departure not a major shock.

Hill is the second Seahawks assistant to leave this offseason, following offensive coordinator Ryan Grub, who was let go on Monday. With a disappointing offensive season behind them, there could be more changes—whether voluntary or not—on the horizon.
