“NFL Mock Draft: Commanders Shock Fans with Bold Picks, Landing Star Wide Receiver and Game-Changing Linebacker”

December 9, 2024

The Washington Commanders have found their quarterback of the future in Jayden Daniels, and while Terry McLaurin is a standout wide receiver, the team would benefit from adding another big target.

Following the trade of former first-round pick Jahan Dotson to NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles, the Commanders are left with a gap at the No. 2 receiver position. However, this is something that could be addressed in the 2025 NFL Draft.

In a recent mock draft by Danny Kelly of The Ringer, the Commanders selected Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III with the No. 21 overall pick. Kelly notes, “The Commanders have a star in quarterback Jayden Daniels, but the team needs to continue building around its young franchise player. Washington could do that by adding an explosive playmaker to complement veteran Terry McLaurin. Burden is a deep threat and a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands, offering offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury a versatile weapon to use in various formations.”

Burden recently announced his decision to enter the NFL Draft after recording 61 catches for 676 yards and six touchdowns this season with the Tigers. Stay tuned to CommanderGameday and the Locked On Commanders podcast for more free coverage of the Washington Commanders throughout the 2024 season.
