As Kentucky wraps up its season with a final game against the Louisville Cardinals, the focus is already shifting to next year. While offensive line is not the biggest issue many fans of Big Blue Nation are hoping for a change at the top, with speculation about Mark Stoops possibly entering the coaching transfer portal, the Wildcats also face several roster needs that must be addressed. A key area of concern is the offensive line.

Although not the team’s biggest issue, the offensive line is still a significant problem. Three of the starting five offensive linemen from the beginning of the season are seniors, and there are five senior offensive linemen total on the roster. While there is a need for improvement across the board, the team will likely have to rely on the transfer portal to strengthen the line.

Stoops emphasized in his recent press conference that the Wildcats intend to be aggressive in the portal and are prepared financially to make it happen. “We have an opportunity to get this roster fixed. That’s my plan…we have to get it done,” Stoops said.

Kentucky’s offensive line has struggled all season, ranking among the worst in the nation in sacks allowed and tackles for loss. The line has failed to provide adequate protection for the quarterbacks, and while the coaching staff has made little effort to adapt to this issue, it remains a glaring problem. Quarterback Brock Vandagriff has faced constant pressure, leading to struggles with decision-making and overall performance.

To truly address these concerns, Stoops must focus on bringing in proven talent through the transfer portal to rebuild the offensive line.
