Brian Windhorst highlighted Julius Randle as a valuable trade asset for the Knicks on ‘The Hoop Collective’ podcast. Windhorst emphasized that Randle’s affordable $29 million salary makes him an appealing trade piece, especially when combined with draft picks to potentially acquire a superstar or multiple key players.
Windhorst pointed out, “Randle’s $29 million salary is very attractive, and he has a $31 million player option for next season. If he performs at his best, he could consider opting out, as he’s eligible for a four-year, $181 million extension starting this month.”
He also mentioned, “The Knicks need to be cautious with their salary commitments due to players like Anunoby and the upcoming extension for Mikal Bridges, despite Jalen Brunson’s comparatively lower salary. Randle’s $29 million salary makes him extremely tradable, and the Knicks still have a few first-round picks they can use in trade deals.”
