Just In: Kentucky Wildcats Land Massive Commitment from Top Defensive Tackle

July 9, 2024

San Pablo (Cali.) Contra Costa College defensive tackle Dennious Jackson has officially committed to the University of Kentucky, bringing his formidable presence to the Wildcats ahead of the upcoming season. Standing tall at 6-foot-5 and weighing 335 pounds, Jackson’s commitment follows an offer extended by Kentucky in June.

Jackson’s journey to this pivotal moment in his football career is a testament to resilience and the support of those who believed in him. Reflecting on his path, Jackson shared a heartfelt message on X.com:

“First off, I want to thank everyone who made this journey possible for me. All of the coaches who saw something in me even when I did not see it in myself. Two years ago, I was struggling with a poor outlook on the future. But thanks to the support of people like my mom and coach Otis Yelverton, I persevered. I lived through many hardships, but yet I made it through. This is the beginning of a new chapter in my life, and it wouldn’t be possible without those who gave me the confidence to move forward, and for that, I am forever grateful. It is because of these people that I will be attending the University of Kentucky.”

Last fall, Jackson demonstrated his defensive prowess with 11 tackles for the Contra Costa Pirates. His performance caught the attention of Kentucky’s coaching staff, especially as the Wildcats sought to bolster their depth at the nose tackle position following an injury to Josiah Hayes. Jackson’s addition to the team addresses this need, bringing fresh talent and determination to Kentucky’s defensive lineup.

As Jackson transitions to this new chapter, his journey serves as an inspiration, showcasing the power of perseverance and the impact of a strong support system. The University of Kentucky eagerly awaits the contributions of their new defensive tackle, Dennious Jackson, whose commitment is not just a step forward in his athletic career but a testament to his unwavering resolve.
