Jets’ Quarterback Talks ‘Awesome’ Reunion with Former Teammate!

April 10, 2025

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields shared his excitement about reuniting with Garrett Wilson, describing the experience as “awesome” and noting that their connection has “not skipped a beat.”

Wilson has had an exceptional start to his career, becoming the first receiver in Jets history to surpass 1,000 yards in each of his first three seasons. His consistent performance with seven different quarterbacks highlights his strength as a key player in the team’s offense.

After Fields signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Jets, the team decided to pair Wilson with his former college quarterback. The two played together at Ohio State during the 2019 and 2020 seasons, where Fields threw for 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns when targeting Wilson.

Now back together, Fields expressed how great it feels to play alongside Wilson again: “I mean, it’s awesome, of course,” he said. “We played together in college, and when I saw him, it was really like the old days. I don’t think our relationship skipped a beat.”

While the Jets hope to get the best out of Fields, the move may also have long-term implications for Wilson. As he enters his fourth season, Wilson is eligible for an extension, and though no deal has been made yet, the Jets’ decision to reunite him with Fields signals their intent to keep him around for the future.
