Bobby Durkin is quickly becoming a player Gophers fans should keep an eye on in the transfer portal.
While it’s still uncertain where the 6-foot-7 small forward from Davidson will land, there seems to be a growing buzz connecting him to Minnesota. If he does commit to the Gophers, it would be a major win for new head coach Niko Medved.
Durkin had an impressive sophomore season at Davidson, averaging 13.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. Although he shot 40.6% from the field, he was a solid three-point shooter (35.5%) and hit 85% of his free throws.
His three-point shooting splits are particularly intriguing—he started the season strong with 43.3% from beyond the arc in his first 18 games but struggled afterward, shooting just 25.6% over his final 15 games.
While Durkin has also been linked to Ohio State and Clemson, there’s growing speculation online that he’ll end up at Minnesota. In fact, the transfer portal crystal ball from 247Sports has his move to the Gophers at 100%.
Should Durkin commit, Minnesota’s 2025-26 roster will include him alongside other portal additions Jaylen Crocker-Johnson (Colorado State) and B.J. Omot (California). With returning sophomore point guard Isaac Asuma, the Gophers are starting to build a very promising lineup.
