Seahawks’ $51 Million Lineman Set to Be Cap Casualty

January 25, 2025

The Seattle Seahawks have some tough decisions ahead of them in the coming months as the new league year approaches. One of the biggest questions is what to do with Geno Smith, a decision that could go in multiple directions, depending on how general manager John Schneider views the situation. The team also faces some tough calls regarding aging stars like DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, both of whom have expensive contracts.

One decision that should be easier to make, however, is what to do with defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones, who signed a three-year, $51.3 million deal two years ago. While Jones has had some standout moments, his overall performance has been underwhelming, which is why he agreed to restructure his deal last offseason.
