“Kraken’s Dark Trade Secret: One Player They MUST Acquire Before 2025 NHL Deadline to Seal Their Playoff Fate”

January 25, 2025

The Seattle Kraken missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2024 after an unexpected playoff run the year before. With hopes of returning to the postseason in 2025, the team made a bold move by firing head coach Dave Hakstol and hiring Dan Bylsma. However, the coaching change hasn’t led to a significant improvement on the ice. As of now, the Kraken remain in the hunt for a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference with a 21-24-3 record, earning 47 points. While they’re still in the mix, they trail the Calgary Flames by four points for the final playoff spot.

The Seattle Kraken are expected to be sellers at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, with a few veteran players potentially on the move for future assets. One such player to keep an eye on is veteran centre Yanni Gourde, who could be a trade candidate this winter.

That said, the Kraken aren’t ruling out making additions to their roster. They’ve built a reputation for taking chances on reclamation project wingers, particularly younger ones, and have seen success with these moves. Seattle could look to bring in a younger winger this winter—someone who may not have the same pedigree as some of their past acquisitions but still has potential. This player, a former prospect in need of a fresh start, could be a perfect fit for the Kraken.
