The Yankees are continuing their search for infield help, and free agent Jorge Polanco has reportedly caught their eye, according to the New York Post.
Polanco, who played 118 games with the Seattle Mariners in 2024, offers a combination of power and switch-hitting flexibility but comes with some health concerns. After undergoing patellar tendon surgery that ended his season early, Polanco’s physical condition remains a major question.
At the plate, Polanco posted a .213/.296/.355 line last year, hitting 16 home runs, driving in 45 RBIs, and recording a .213 isolated power. While these numbers show his ability to hit for extra bases, his overall performance was well below his 2023 stats, when he hit .255/.335/.454 with 14 homers and 48 RBIs in just 80 games. That season hinted at his potential when healthy, but the Yankees will need to assess his power upside against his injury concerns.
