The New York Jets will have to wait until Sunday to determine the status of several players listed as questionable for the game against the Seattle Seahawks.
The team has already ruled out offensive tackle Tyron Smith, who had been expected to miss the game due to a neck injury. Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich confirmed Smith is becoming a candidate for injured reserve as his injury hasn’t improved despite treatment and consultations with specialists, though the specifics of the injury have not been disclosed.
Five other Jets players are listed as game-time decisions: running back Breece Hall (knee), offensive linemen Jake Hanson (hamstring) and Xavier Newman (concussion), linebacker C.J. Mosley (neck), and safety Chuck Clark (shin). While Hall is optimistic about his recovery, Mosley’s status is uncertain due to a back issue that has kept him out of several games. Hanson has recently returned to practice after missing multiple games, while Newman, who is on injured reserve, has had his practice window opened and could be activated within the next 21 days.
In addition, several Jets players are listed on the injury report but have no game status for Sunday, including wide receiver Malachi Corley (illness), cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers (personal), offensive lineman Morgan Moses (knee), cornerback D.J. Reed (back), and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle).
For the Seahawks, only safety AJ Finley (ankle) and tight end Brady Russell (foot) are listed as questionable, while several other key players, including wide receivers DK Metcalf (shoulder) and Tyler Lockett (knee), are not carrying any injury designation.
