The Seattle Seahawks are receiving some much-needed reinforcements ahead of their Week 13 matchup with the New York Jets.
On Wednesday, the Seahawks announced linebacker Uchenna Nwosu and offensive tackle Stone Forsythe have been designated to return to practice. Both players have been on injured reserve for several weeks—Nwosu since Week 5 due to a thigh injury, and Forsythe since Week 7 because of a hand injury.
With this designation, Nwosu and Forsythe now have 21 days to practice without counting against the 53-man roster. After this window, the Seahawks must either activate them or shut them down for the remainder of the season. There is no indication that either player will be unable to return within the 21-day timeframe.
Forsythe’s return is a welcome boost for depth at offensive tackle, especially with Abe Lucas back at right tackle. Forsythe could also serve as a swing tackle if needed. However, with rookie Mike Jarrell showing promise (though still inconsistent), the Seahawks may not feel the need to rush Forsythe back right away.
Nwosu, who was expected to be a starter at outside linebacker, has missed most of the season due to knee and thigh injuries. In his absence, Boye Mafe and Derick Hall have stepped up and played well, potentially making it difficult for Nwosu to reclaim a starting role. Nevertheless, his return would still be valuable, adding another pass-rushing option to Seattle’s defense. Head coach Mike Macdonald has indicated that Nwosu will practice this week but is not expected to play in Sunday’s game against the Jets.
While the timeline for both players’ returns remains uncertain, their potential comeback is significant for Seattle. As many teams struggle with injuries late in the season, the Seahawks are gaining valuable depth as they head into the final stretch of the year.
