There will be little uncertainty regarding which injured New York Jets players will miss Thursday’s game against the Houston Texans, as the team has ruled out six players.
All six did not practice this week, and some may be candidates for injured reserve, according to interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich. None of them participated in the game against New England on Sunday. The players include safety Tony Adams (hamstring), safety Ashtyn Davis (concussion), defensive lineman Leki Fotu (knee), wide receiver Allen Lazard (chest), guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle), and linebacker C.J. Mosley (neck). Mosley was the only player not listed on last week’s injury report; he sustained an injury prior to Sunday’s game and did not see any action.
The Jets might choose to place any of these players on injured reserve before Thursday’s game, which would open up a roster spot. They recently did this with kicker Greg Zuerlein, who was added to the injury report on Tuesday with a knee issue in his non-kicking leg.
In other roster moves, the Jets signed linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball to the active roster and released safety Jaylen Key from the practice squad.
New York will need to wait until Thursday afternoon to see if three players listed as questionable will be able to play. Those players are linebacker Chazz Surratt (heel), offensive lineman Morgan Moses (knee), and tight end Kenny Yeboah (abdomen). Surratt and Moses played on Sunday, while Yeboah did not and is nearing the end of his two-week practice window after spending much of the season on IR. Although Surratt and Moses have been limited participants this week, Yeboah has fully participated.
The rest of the injury report includes players without any injury designation who are expected to be available, such as cornerback Michael Carter II (back), offensive lineman Jake Hanson (thumb), edge rusher Will McDonald IV (shoulder), quarterback Aaron Rodgers (knee/hamstring), edge rusher Hasson Reddick (neck), offensive lineman Tyron Smith (veteran rest), defensive lineman Quinnen Williams (ankle), and linebacker Jamien Sherwood (shoulder).
Meanwhile, the Texans will be without wide receiver Stefon Diggs for the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury sustained on Sunday, and he has been placed on injured reserve. Houston has ruled out four players for Thursday’s game: safety Jimmie Ward (groin), center Jarrett Patterson (concussion), running back Dameon Pierce (groin), and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee).
Safety Calen Bullock (shoulder), cornerback Kamari Lassiter (shoulder), and linebacker Henry To’oTo’o (concussion) have no injury designations and are expected to be available.
