“Eagles’ Vic Fangio Drops Truth Bomb: Midseason Trade Deadline Secrets Exposed as Tension Builds!”

October 29, 2024

The NFL trade deadline is approaching, and while several teams have strengthened their rosters, the Philadelphia Eagles have yet to make a move.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio doesn’t see any reason to pursue trades. When asked if he was advocating for any acquisitions, Fangio was straightforward in his reply.

“No,” he stated, adding that midseason trades usually don’t significantly impact a team unless they involve younger talent.

“It’s challenging to make substantial improvements this time of year,” Fangio explained. “Looking back at past trades, many haven’t delivered the results teams hoped for… Unless you’re bringing in someone you can keep for several years, it’s often not worth it, especially when it’s just minor swaps like trading a sixth for a seventh round pick.”

Fangio’s perspective is backed by the Eagles’ previous midseason trade with the Tennessee Titans for Kevin Byard, a 30-year-old safety, which didn’t pan out as expected. The Eagles traded a 2024 fifth and sixth-round pick for the former All-Pro, but Byard fell short of expectations, finishing the 2023 season with 75 tackles, one interception, and three passes defended over ten games. He was released in March, saving the team $13 million in cap space.

Despite Fangio’s lack of urgency for new talent, don’t rule the Eagles out just yet, as general manager Howie Roseman is known for being active on the trade front.

NFL teams have until Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. ET to finalize any trades.
