The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed former Toronto Argonauts defensive back Leonard Johnson to their practice roster. Johnson, originally from Hayden, Alabama, played four games this season and recorded 24 tackles before being released. Johnson was a standout at Duke University, appearing in 47 games, amassing 165 tackles, 24 pass breakups, and six interceptions over five seasons.
Additionally, the Ticats signed four other American players to the practice squad:
1. Jayden Price: A defensive back from North Dakota State University, Price excelled both defensively and as a return specialist. In five seasons, he recorded 107 tackles, three interceptions, and five punt return touchdowns.
2. Reggie Brown: A wide receiver from James Madison University, Brown tallied 93 receptions for 1,686 yards and 16 touchdowns during his college career. He was named to the first-team All-Sun Belt.
3. Mario Kendricks: A defensive lineman from Virginia Tech, Kendricks had 67 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and seven sacks over five seasons. He had brief stints with the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks.
4. Lorenzo Lingard: A running back who finished his college career at the University of Akron, Lingard recorded 641 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He also spent time with the New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars.
