Despite the team’s success, much attention has been focused on backup quarterback Arch Manning, nephew of NFL legend Peyton Manning. Since enrolling at Texas before the 2023 season, Arch has remained in the spotlight.
During a recent appearance on the ‘Bussin’ With The Boys’ podcast, Peyton shared his thoughts on Arch’s time at Texas, expressing that he believes his nephew is eager to play. “I think he wants to play and establish himself. They’ve got a strong team this year, and I’m a big fan of Quinn (Ewers),” Peyton said. He also praised Arch for staying at Texas despite the competition, adding that many players would have transferred in his situation. Peyton noted Arch’s respect for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the continuity he’s gaining from staying in the system.
Under Sarkisian, known for his ability to develop quarterbacks like Carson Palmer, Mark Sanchez, Tua Tagovailoa, and Mac Jones, Arch is in good hands. Drew Brees, another football icon, echoed similar sentiments. Brees told The Athletic’s Larry Holder that the best path for Arch is to spend five years at Texas. “For him to stay in a system, learn from one of the best QB developers in Sarkisian, and compete in the SEC would be invaluable,” Brees said. He believes that by staying, Arch will develop into a strong leader, gain vital experience, and be fully prepared for the NFL.
