The Kansas City Chiefs are well aware that they’re entering the 2024 season with a target on their back as back-to-back Super Bowl champions. According to the NFL Scouting Department at Bleacher Report, the Chiefs could potentially trade for WR Treylon Burks of the Tennessee Titans:
Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach has an established working relationship with Titans GM Ran Carthon, stemming from the deal that sent L’Jarius Sneed to Tennessee. They might connect again to discuss a trade that would bring Treylon Burks to Kansas City. With Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, and Justyn Ross running out of opportunities to prove their worth, and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown dealing with a shoulder injury, the Chiefs are short on reliable receivers.
Treylon Burks is an intriguing prospect with impressive physical attributes, but he has struggled to consistently perform and is slipping down the depth chart in Tennessee. It would be surprising, however, if the Titans traded away a 24-year-old wide receiver midway through his rookie contract, especially to a conference rival that’s likely to be in the playoff mix. Additionally, trading one of their top weapons while trying to develop young QB Will Levis would raise eyebrows.
Burks’ health has been a concern due to injuries over the past few seasons, but if he can stay on the field, he could become a key player. He ended the season with 221 yards on 16 receptions, which is respectable considering he was only targeted 30 times. With more targets and consistent health, Burks could play a significant role in the Titans’ offense.
