The Seattle Seahawks are currently undergoing a significant roster overhaul. For the first time in over ten years, Pete Carroll will not be leading the team as head coach in Week 1, which means the franchise is exploring all possibilities for the future.
Amidst these changes, a few players are particularly vulnerable to being traded before the start of the regular season.
Potential Trade Candidates:
Tyler Lockett, WR
Tyler Lockett has been a key player for the Seahawks for nearly a decade, initially making a name for himself with Russell Wilson and later maintaining some success with Geno Smith. However, Lockett’s performance has shown signs of decline. At 31, he is coming off back-to-back seasons with reduced receiving yards and fell short of 1,000 yards for the first time since 2018. Despite a respectable 894 yards last season, trading Lockett could quickly generate draft capital if the Seahawks decide to accelerate their rebuild.
Noah Fant, TE
Noah Fant was acquired as part of the major trade involving Russell Wilson. While a notable piece from that deal, Fant’s contribution has been underwhelming, with only 414 receiving yards last season. As the Seahawks consider a rebuild, moving Fant might not impact the team’s immediate future significantly. Nonetheless, a contending team might value him as a depth addition, potentially offering a late-round pick in exchange. Should Fant be traded, Pharoah Brown would likely step into the starting tight end role, providing a new dynamic to the offense. If Brown doesn’t prove effective, the Seahawks might look to Tyler Mabry or Brady Russell to see if they can emerge as reliable option
