The New York Giants are striving to change their fortunes in 2024 after a disappointing 2023 season, with much riding on QB Daniel Jones’s performance.
Following his career-best season in 2022, Jones secured a four-year contract worth up to $160 million in March. However, he regressed significantly in 2023, suffering his second major neck injury and tearing his ACL in Week 9. Despite these setbacks, General Manager Joe Schoen is optimistic about Jones’s recovery. “He’s doing well. He’s running in a pool now, so he’s progressed to that,” Schoen told SiriusXM NFL Radio. “He’s in there every day working hard. Again, I’ve said it multiple times, he’s a kid you’re going to have to pull back. He’s in there by 6:30 getting his workout in every day. So, he’s going to work hard at it.”
Jones is ready for the start of training camp. Instead of drafting a new QB with the No. 6 overall pick, the Giants chose to stick with Jones and selected LSU WR Malik Nabers. To protect Jones better in 2024, the team focused on improving the offensive line, including signing Jon Runyan Jr. and former Raiders left tackle Jermaine Eluemunor.
Unfortunately, Eluemunor, who was a key free-agent acquisition and expected to start at guard, got injured during his first training camp practice. He had to be helped off the field, with reports suggesting a possible arm injury. Eluemunor signed a two-year, $14 million deal with the Giants this offseason, and any significant absence would be a major setback as the team works to rebuild their offensive line. Giants fans are anxiously awaiting further updates.
