In his sole season with the Aggies, the right-handed junior Armstrong made four appearances on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings and striking out seven batters. His standout performance came during regional play, where he delivered a scoreless 2.1-inning stint against Grambling in the Bryan-College Station Regional, recording three strikeouts in the process.
Armstrong’s signing with the Mets highlights the team’s commitment to scouting and developing talent beyond the draft. Despite not being selected, Armstrong’s impressive performance during his limited time at Texas A&M caught the attention of major league scouts, leading to his opportunity with the Mets.
As Armstrong begins his professional career, he joins a list of talented Aggies making their mark in the MLB, and his journey will be closely watched by Texas A&M supporters and baseball enthusiasts alike.
