When the doors opened for July’s second evaluation period at 6 p.m. ET Friday, Jon Scheyer had the option to attend the prestigious Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C., or other grassroots events to scout Duke basketball recruits. However, the third-year head coach strategically chose the 3SSB All-American Camp in Atlanta as his first stop. According to 247Sports’ Travis Branham on social media, Scheyer was seen courtside, focusing on newly identified Blue Devil target Braylon Mullins.

Mullins, a dynamic sharpshooter from Greenfield-Central School (Ind.), recently climbed approximately 70 spots to rank No. 23 overall in the 247Sports 2025 recruiting rankings. He reported an offer from Scheyer and his team on Sunday. Mullins holds offers from every major blueblood program and has planned numerous official visits for the first semester of his senior year. He is also expected to announce an official list of his top choices soon.
Scheyer’s immediate appearance to watch Mullins play on Friday night indicates his serious intent to compete for Mullins’ commitment. Despite the addition of Mullins, Duke basketball’s 2025 offer sheet, now including 13 names, has yet to secure a commitment.
