Florida State remains red-hot on the recruiting trail as mid-July approaches. The Seminoles have significantly revamped their 2025 class in recent weeks, showing no signs of slowing down.
On Saturday afternoon, four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon committed to FSU, choosing the Seminoles over USC, Texas, Ohio State, and SMU. This is a significant pickup for FSU, as they secure a top-tier prospect from Texas. Head coach Mike Norvell and wide receivers coach Ron Dugans have been pursuing McCutcheon for over a year. Their efforts paid off after his final round of official visits last month. McCutcheon had an impressive junior season at Lovejoy High School, recording 94 catches for 1,430 yards and 20 touchdowns, along with two kickoff return touchdowns. He also excels in track and field with personal bests of 11.54 seconds in the 100 meters and 22.57 seconds in the 200 meters. McCutcheon is considered one of the top wide receivers in his class, thanks to his elite athleticism, game-changing ability in the open field, and reliable hands. His quickness and agility make him a threat to turn any play into a big gain.
McCutcheon’s highlight reel features incredible one-handed catches and elusive runs after the catch, demonstrating his versatility to play both outside and in the slot at the college level.
With McCutcheon’s commitment, Florida State now has 12 verbal pledges in their #Tribe25 class. This boosts the Seminoles from No. 24 to No. 16 in the national recruiting rankings, marking their first appearance in the top 20 since early in the year. The Seminoles now have two wide receiver commitments in the 2025 class, with McCutcheon joining four-star CJ Wiley. They are also targeting other top prospects, including four-stars Vernell Brown, Koby Howard, Malik Clark, and Dallas Wilson (Oregon).
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound McCutcheon is ranked as the No. 93 overall prospect, the No. 14 wide receiver, and the No. 18 recruit in Texas for the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.
