Daeshon Morgan, a promising three-star defensive lineman from Texas, announced his commitment to Arizona State on Monday night after a whirlwind recruitment process. Since the beginning of December, Morgan has reported 15 Division I offers, but it took only one full offseason for him to decide on the Sun Devils.
Morgan, who stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 268 pounds, had an impressive season at Vandergrift High School in Austin, recording 31 tackles and six sacks. His performance attracted significant attention, and he received an offer from Arizona State in early February. Morgan is currently ranked as the No. 123 overall defensive lineman prospect and the No. 204 recruit in Texas by 247Sports. His other offers included Arkansas State, Cal, Colorado State, Texas Tech, and UNLV.
The Sun Devils made a strong impression on Morgan during a major recruiting weekend in mid-April, which coincided with their Maroon and Gold Spring Game. He was one of eight recruits visiting from Texas at the time. Morgan’s commitment marks the fifth from Texas and the 19th overall for Arizona State’s 2025 recruiting class.
Despite recent commitments from various programs nationwide, Arizona State has seen its ranking slip from as high as No. 1 to its current position of No. 5 in the Big 12 and from inside the top 15 overall to No. 39 in the 247Sports Composite rankings. However, Morgan’s addition is expected to bolster their defensive lineup and potentially improve their standing.
Arizona State’s recruitment efforts continue to demonstrate their appeal to top talent from across the country, and Morgan’s commitment is a testament to the program’s strength and future prospects.
