Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson appears understanding of Kirk Cousins’ departure.
In March, the Atlanta Falcons signed Cousins to a lucrative 4-year contract after he had been the Vikings’ starting quarterback since Jefferson joined the team in 2020.
During a recent interview on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Jefferson was asked about his reaction to Cousins’ decision to leave the team.

“I just sensed that things weren’t going the way he wanted them to here,” Jefferson told Eisen. “… I think he just wanted a fresh start, a new chance with Atlanta — a clean slate. I don’t hold it against him at all. I appreciate what he’s done for me and what we achieved together. But ultimately, it’s a business.” With Cousins leading the Vikings, Jefferson emerged as one of the NFL’s premier receivers, earning three Pro Bowl selections and three All-Pro honors in each of his first three seasons from 2020 to 2022.
However, injuries affected both players’ 2023 seasons, leading to the split of the Vikings’ dynamic duo.
