Kansas City Chiefs player Isaiah Buggs is facing allegations of domestic violence and burglary after reportedly dragging his child’s mother down a flight of stairs and injuring her. This incident occurred in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where Buggs was accused of breaking into the woman’s home with a tire iron early Sunday morning. The woman told police he confronted her upstairs before forcibly dragging her downstairs, causing her to lose several clip-on toenails and sustain wrist scratches. After she threatened to call the police, Buggs allegedly fled and was later arrested in a nearby parking lot.
This arrest follows a previous legal issue for Buggs on May 30, when he turned himself in on two misdemeanor counts of second-degree animal cruelty. Authorities had found two dogs, including a pitbull and a Rottweiler mix, abandoned without food or water on the back porch of his rental home near the University of Alabama. The pitbull, severely malnourished and aggressive, was euthanized, while the Rottweiler was found dangerously underweight and tested positive for parvovirus.
Buggs was released from custody on a $5,000 bond after the recent arrest. The animal cruelty charges stem from neighbors’ reports that the dogs had been left alone for at least ten days, and the house appeared abandoned. Buggs had moved out in March after falling behind on rent.
This series of events adds to a challenging offseason for the Chiefs, with several team members encountering legal troubles.
