According to Joe Tipton of On3, five-star shooting guard prospect Isiah Harwell from Pocatello (ID) and Wasatch Academy will make his college commitment on September 12. Ranked as the No. 2 shooting guard in the 2025 class by 247Sports Composite, Harwell has narrowed his choices to four schools: Gonzaga, Cal, Houston, and Texas. Despite not visiting Austin since receiving an offer from Texas a few years ago, Harwell is drawn to head coach Rodney Terry’s dynamic offensive approach and focus on strong guard play. Harwell has been particularly intrigued by the recruitment of five-star guard Tre Johnson to Texas and is excited about the potential to play in Terry’s system. Harwell noted, “The way the guards play, the laid-back yet dedicated coaching staff, and Texas’s consistent hard work are appealing. They produce top guards, and players like Tre Johnson have committed there.” Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 190 pounds, Harwell has been a significant out-of-state recruit for Terry and his staff in the 2025 cycle. Texas has maintained consistent communication and built a solid rapport with Harwell over the past few years.
Harwell has one official visit lined up before his mid-September decision. He plans to visit Cal from June 25-26. He has already taken unofficial visits to Houston in March and an official visit to Gonzaga in late February 2024.
