In a significant recruiting weekend for the Auburn Tigers football program, 4-star safety Eric Winters committed to the team after his official visit to the Plains. Winters, who is from Enterprise, Alabama, was one of over 10 official visitors this weekend. His decision to join Auburn comes after interest from other top programs including Georgia and Miami.
Ranked as the No. 7 safety nationally in the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 5 prospect from Alabama, Winters was swayed by the strong sense of community at Auburn and the impressive credentials of defensive coordinator Charles Kelly. With Winters on board, Auburn now boasts commitments from four of the top 10 players in Alabama, elevating their recruiting class to No. 6 nationally.
Winters expressed his excitement about the decision: “The family atmosphere at Auburn and the opportunity to play under Coach Kelly were huge factors for me. I’m looking forward to being part of such a storied program and contributing to its success.”
Auburn Baseball Boosts Roster with Transfers Sam and Andrew Dutton
The Auburn Tigers baseball team made notable additions to their roster this weekend, acquiring brothers Sam and Andrew Dutton from the transfer portal. The Duttons, hailing from Southside, Alabama and Westbrook Christian High School, bring valuable experience and talent to Auburn’s lineup.
Sam Dutton, a pitcher, transfers from LSU where he had a solid three-year stint. He made 57 appearances and started 15 games, tallying 29 strikeouts and just six walks in 27.2 innings during the last season. His move to Auburn marks the most high-profile transfer among the five new players joining the Tigers this offseason.
“I’m excited to bring my experience from LSU to Auburn,” Sam said. “I’m looking forward to new challenges and contributing to the team’s success.”
Andrew Dutton, an infielder, comes from Birmingham-Southern College for his fifth year of eligibility. During his time there, Andrew started 49 games and posted impressive stats with seven home runs, 42 RBIs, and a team-leading .340 batting average.
“Auburn offers a great opportunity to continue my baseball career at a high level,” Andrew remarked. “I’m eager to get on the field and make an impact.”
The addition of the Dutton brothers adds depth and experience to the Tigers’ roster as they prepare for the upcoming season. Head coach Butch Thompson highlighted the significance of these transfers: “Sam and Andrew bring a lot to the table both on and off the field. Their experience and skill sets will be valuable assets to our team as we aim for a successful season.”
With the football team’s strong recruiting momentum and the baseball team’s strategic roster enhancements, Auburn Athletics is poised for exciting developments across both sports.
