Former Wofford right-handed pitchers Camden Wicker and Zac Cowan have committed to LSU, according to Baseball America’s Teddy Cahill and D1Baseball.
Both of the Terriers’ standout aces are headed to The Bayou as head coach Jay Johnson significantly strengthens his bullpen early in the offseason. Wicker and Cowan led Wofford in innings pitched, ERA, WHIP, and strikeouts last season among players averaging at least one inning pitched per game.
Cowan, Wofford’s top pitcher last season, had a 10-2 record with a 3.35 ERA. He earned First-Team All-Southern Conference honors from the SCSMA and league coaches, posting 124 strikeouts and just 29 walks over 110 innings in his sophomore season. He joins the Tigers with two years of eligibility left and the potential to make a substantial impact on LSU’s rotation. As a freshman, Cowan had a 3-3 record with a 6.75 ERA in 45.1 innings, striking out 54 batters with just three walks, earning a spot on the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team.
Wicker arrives at LSU after an impressive true freshman season where he was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team. He finished the year 4-3 with a 4.28 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and 57 strikeouts in his first college season. Wicker faced LSU in the Chapel Hill Regional, allowing seven hits and three runs over four innings in a 13-6 loss that ended Wofford’s season. Despite the loss, the Tigers clearly saw potential, leading to Wicker and Cowan joining Baton Rouge ahead of the 2025 season.
