Despite NFL legend Tom Brady’s statement in April about being open to a return if a team needed an emergency quarterback, it’s highly improbable that we’ll see the GOAT take another snap in the NFL. The 47-year-old is on the verge of acquiring a stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, though the deal has yet to be finalized. Additionally, Brady inked a 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox to join their top broadcast team as a color commentator, starting this season with the Cowboys-Browns game.
Despite finishing third in passing yards and tying for eighth in passing touchdowns in the 2022 season at age 45, which suggests he could still be at least an above-average quarterback if he returned, his future on the field looks unlikely.
Brady has previously expressed confidence in playing past the age of 50, bolstered by his remarkable ability to avoid sacks. He led the league in the lowest sack percentage in both 2021 and 2022.
For older quarterbacks, maintaining health despite declining athleticism and strength in a league full of elite athletes is a major concern. For Brady, however, this doesn’t seem to be an issue.
Several teams with unsettled quarterback situations would eagerly sign Brady for the 2024 season, especially those with an otherwise strong roster. We’ll explore which teams could benefit most from a hypothetical Brady signing and why they might pursue him.
