Washington (DC) Gonzaga Top 100 safety Kainoa Winston, the nation’s No. 3 safety per 247Sports, made his way to Michigan this weekend for his official visit. The 5-10, 185-pounder couldn’t have had a better time in Ann Arbor. Others in contention include North Carolina, Oregon, and Penn State.
So, how did things go for the country’s No. 43 overall player in the class of 2025?
Winston’s visit to Michigan was nothing short of spectacular. The young safety was given a comprehensive tour of the university’s facilities, meeting with coaches, players, and academic advisors. His time in Ann Arbor was filled with activities designed to showcase the unique advantages of becoming a Wolverine.
“The visit was amazing,” Winston shared. “The coaches really made me feel like part of the family. The facilities are top-notch, and the campus atmosphere is incredible. It was everything I hoped it would be and more.”
Winston’s praise extended beyond the football program. He was particularly impressed with Michigan’s academic support and the opportunities available to student-athletes. “The academic advisors were very helpful in explaining how they assist players in balancing their studies and football. That’s really important to me and my family,” he noted.
During his visit, Winston had the chance to interact with current Michigan players, gaining insight into what life is like as a Wolverine. He participated in team activities and even got a taste of the legendary Michigan game day experience. “The players were really welcoming and answered all my questions. They have a strong bond, and you can see how much they enjoy being here,” Winston remarked.
Winston’s recruiting journey is far from over, with North Carolina, Oregon, and Penn State also vying for his commitment. Each of these programs offers unique advantages and will be pushing hard to make a strong impression in the coming months.
“All of the schools I’m considering have great football programs and offer strong academics. It’s going to be a tough decision, but I’m taking my time to make sure I choose the right place for me,” Winston explained.
As one of the top safeties in the nation, Winston’s decision will be highly anticipated by fans and analysts alike. His combination of speed, agility, and football IQ makes him a coveted asset for any college program
