The Atlanta Braves have been dealt another blow on the injury front, placing left-hander A.J. Minter on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his left hip. Minter’s last appearance was a scoreless inning against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night. Although his performance this season hasn’t matched the dominance of last year, Minter has still shown flashes of effectiveness. His absence will be felt significantly, leaving the Braves with only two southpaws in the bullpen.
In response to Minter’s injury, the Braves recalled right-handed pitcher Jimmy Herget. Herget has experienced a season of frequent transactions, having been recently optioned to Gwinnett on Wednesday before being recalled to replace Minter.
In other roster moves, infielder Joey Wendle has elected free agency after being outrighted by the Braves. Additionally, star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. is set to undergo ACL surgery on Tuesday, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who also conducted his previous surgery in 2021.
