LSU secondary coach Corey Raymond is making a significant impact on recruiting, aiming to restore “DBU” status in Baton Rouge. Brian Kelly and his team are benefiting from Raymond’s recruiting prowess as they pursue top targets. One key target is DJ Pickett, the top-ranked cornerback in the 2025 class, who is set for an official visit to LSU this weekend.
Pickett has already visited LSU three times this year, including a visit during the LSU Spring Game in April. His upcoming visit marks his first official trip, with several other LSU targets joining him. Pickett’s final list, released in December, included Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Florida, and Michigan, but has since been updated to include LSU and Oregon. Experts now view LSU as the frontrunner.
Raymond, who returned to LSU after a successful stint from 2012-2021, has already helped secure a commitment from top 10 cornerback Jaboree Antoine. Raymond’s previous tenure saw him coach multiple All-Americans and NFL draft picks, including the 2019 Jim Thorpe Award winner Grant Delpit.
During Pickett’s visits, LSU has rolled out the red carpet, with top recruits like four-star linebacker Keylan Moses and 2024 signees DaShawn McBryde and Joel Rogers making appearances. Sources indicate that Pickett’s visits have gone very well, and LSU is now a top contender for his commitment. Although Pickett is not committing soon and plans to take game day visits in the fall, LSU is making significant strides in his recruitment.
