The New York Yankees and Mo Willems’s Hidden Pigeon Company have announced a partnership for two exclusive apparel collections and two special game events scheduled for August.One collection will blend the Yankees brand with Willems’s beloved character, The Pigeon, while the other will showcase the team alongside Elephant & Piggie. Both collections will offer a range of apparel items, including short- and long-sleeve t-shirts, tank tops, hoodies, and onesies, catering to infants, children, and adults. The merchandise will be available for purchase at the Yankees Team Store at Yankee Stadium and online via the Yankees’ website, starting August 3rd.
Additionally, attendees holding special-event tickets for the August 3rd game against Toronto and the August 22nd game against Cleveland will receive bobbleheads featuring The Pigeon and Elephant & Piggie, respectively. Mascot versions of these characters will greet fans at each game and will be highlighted in video-board content.
This marks the first collaboration between Willems’s characters and a major-league sports team. Previously, the author had promoted his characters in conjunction with the minor-league Brooklyn Cyclones, featuring activities such as pre-game book readings, bobblehead and beanie giveaways, and character appearances.
Established in May 2023, The Hidden Pigeon Company aims to expand Willems’s brands across various media and consumer products. In January of this year, Karen Miller was appointed as CEO, followed by Tori Cook as SVP franchise management, and Paula Allen as publishing consultant. Most recently, the company enlisted Retail Monster as its licensing agency.
