The Houston Texans have made a move to bolster their receiving corps, acquiring Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Ben Skowronek in a trade deal. In exchange for Skowronek, the Texans sent a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to the Rams, along with receiving a 2026 seventh-round selection.
Skowronek, a seventh-round pick in the 2021 draft, is entering the final year of his contract. Over the course of his three-year career, he has amassed 575 receiving yards and one touchdown. However, his offensive playing time saw a decline last season, dropping from 82% in 2022 to just 19%, as he finished the year with 66 yards on eight catches. Despite this decrease in offensive snaps, Skowronek made significant contributions on special teams, participating in 71% of the Rams’ kicking plays.
The highlight of Skowronek’s career came in 2022, where he recorded 39 receptions for 376 yards, showcasing his potential as a reliable pass-catcher.
Joining the Texans, Skowronek will find himself in a receivers room alongside established talents like four-time Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Robert Woods. His addition adds depth and versatility to the Texans’ receiving options, providing quarterback stability and a diverse set of targets.
As the Texans continue to shape their roster ahead of the upcoming season, the acquisition of Skowronek underscores their commitment to strengthening all facets of their team, aiming for success on the field.
