Noah Shelby, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound junior point guard from Dallas, who previously played basketball at Rice University, has declared his intention to transfer to Kansas. Shelby, who spent the 2022-23 season at Vanderbilt before joining Rice, posted averages of 3.9 points and 1.0 rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season with the Owls (11-21). Sources have informed The Star that he will join KU as a nonscholarship player. Shelby took to Twitter on Sunday to announce his decision, stating, “Committed! I look forward to joining the @KUHoops family. Redshirting this upcoming season and will have two years of eligibility remaining. All glory to God!! #RCJH #TGBTG.” In his reserve role last season, he shot 35.1% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc, and 85.0% from the free-throw line. Over 30 games, including one start, Shelby recorded 24 assists and 19 turnovers while averaging 11.9 minutes per game. Notable performances include a seven-point, two-steal game against Texas and a career-high four-rebound outing against New Mexico. His best offensive showing included 12 points against UTSA, six points against No. 22 Florida Atlantic, and a 10-point display against Tulsa, where he connected on three 3-pointers. During his recruitment out of Greenhill School in Addison, Texas, Shelby garnered interest from various colleges, including KU, Baylor, Memphis, Stanford, Texas, Oklahoma State, Arizona, and Arizona State. He was ranked No. 82 nationally by Rivals.com and No. 99 by 247Sports.com.
