The Jacksonville Jaguars have reached an agreement with former Florida State defensive back Ronald Darby on a 2-year contract valued at up to $10 million, according to reports from Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report. Darby, who played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, will now be joining his sixth NFL team. Drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft as the 50th overall pick, Darby emerged as the runner-up in the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year voting, trailing behind Marcus Peters. After spending two seasons with the Bills, he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for wide receiver Jordan Matthews and a 2018 3rd round pick. During his tenure with the Eagles, Darby clinched a Super Bowl victory in his debut year, which remains the highlight of his career. Following subsequent seasons, Darby ventured through various teams, including stints with the Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos, and Baltimore Ravens. Despite having accumulated eight interceptions over his NFL career, his last interception dates back to his time with the Eagles in 2019. Returning to his collegiate roots in Florida, Darby, a former five-star recruit from Oxon Hill, Maryland, will seek to make an impact with the Jaguars. His collegiate career at Florida State University, spanning from 2012 to 2014, showcased his defensive prowess, contributing 78 total tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 16 pass deflections. Darby played a pivotal role in Florida State’s national championship win in the 2013 season, alongside notable defensive talents like Lamarcus Joyner, Jalen Ramsey, and PJ Williams, who have since excelled in the NFL.
