AJ Dybantsa has been catching the eye of the Duke basketball staff, as well as spectators who have witnessed his gameplay, for quite some time. The Blue Devils, known for their ability to recruit top-tier talent, have been present at the games of the five-star forward from Prolific Prep (Calif.) and have reached out to him on multiple occasions.
However, after many months since rival UNC and other prestigious programs officially entered the competition to recruit AJ Dybantsa, Duke basketball’s head coach Jon Scheyer and his team have now made a move by extending an offer. Essentially, the Blue Devils are aiming for back-to-back victories in securing the commitment of the top recruit, following their successful acquisition of Cooper Flagg, a highly regarded talent set to lead their 2024 recruiting class.
Standing at 6-foot-9 and weighing 200 pounds, Dybantsa announced the offer through his social media channels on Monday evening. What sets Dybantsa apart is his exceptional agility, outstanding athleticism, impressive length, polished shooting skills, and natural ability to create scoring opportunities from any position on the court. These qualities are evident in his recent standout performances in EYBL action.
Ranked as the top prospect overall in the 247Sports 2025 Composite, Dybantsa now becomes the centerpiece of a nine-player wish list for the Blue Devils, which includes nearly all of the top high school juniors, except one. Among these targets are Cayden (No. 17) and Cameron (No. 2), the twin sons of Carlos Boozer, a member of Duke’s 2001 national championship team, both of whom rank in the top 20 of their class.
