Among the honorees was Vikings Ring of Honor linebacker Scott Studwell, who received the Bud Grant Distinguished Minnesotan Award. Studwell, a legendary figure in Vikings history, shared heartfelt memories of his time playing under the iconic coach Bud Grant.
Reflecting on Grant’s influence, Studwell fondly recalled a moment during his rookie training camp where Grant paused to admire a Monarch butterfly, showcasing Grant’s unique blend of toughness and sensitivity.
In addition to Studwell, several other deserving recipients were recognized, including high school coaches, college athletes, and media personalities. Each award celebrated the contributions and achievements of individuals who have made a lasting impact on the sport of football in Minnesota.
