The Broncos are gearing up for a tough clash against the Raiders, with key players still sidelined due to injury. Despite missing their top guns like Adam Reynolds and Payne Haas, coach Kevin Walters remains confident in his team’s abilities. With improvements expected from the current lineup, Walters believes they can overcome the challenge posed by the third-placed Raiders.
“We’re sticking with the same lineup as last week, which is positive for us,” Walters stated. “We’re still working on building our combinations, and it’s a good opportunity for the players named this week to step up.”
Acknowledging the need for discipline, Walters emphasized the importance of addressing areas like offside penalties and ruck management in training. Facing a formidable Raiders pack, the Broncos coach expects a tough battle but remains optimistic about his team’s prospects.
“The Raiders are a quality side with talented players,” Walters acknowledged. “But we’re ready for the challenge. Our forwards, led by Pat Carrigan, have been performing well, and this game will be a great test for them.”
Looking ahead, Walters hinted at potential returns for injured players like Brendan Piakura and Deine Mariner in the following week. However, his focus remains on the present task and the improvements his current squad can make.
“While it’s exciting to have players nearing return, our focus is on tomorrow’s game,” Walters affirmed. “I’m confident in the team we have this week and the progress they can make. We’re aiming for a strong performance at home and to continue building on our improvements.”
