Wests Tigers’ five-eighth, Adam Doueihi, has confirmed engaging in discussions with Benji Marshall and Shane Richardson regarding his future with the club. Despite being sidelined due to an ACL injury sustained early last season, Doueihi has been a part of the Tigers since 2020, making him the second-longest-serving player, only behind Alex Twal.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Doueihi’s future has been uncertain, particularly with the recruitment of several halves and the emergence of fullback Jahream Bula. This situation has prompted speculation about where Doueihi might fit into the team’s lineup.
While Doueihi has been eligible to negotiate with other NRL teams since November 1 last year, there have been no rumors or links with other clubs. However, Doueihi expressed his preference to remain with the Wests Tigers under head coach Benji Marshall.
“I’ve initiated talks with Benji and Richo to gather their insights for the upcoming year,” Doueihi told The Daily Telegraph. “I believe I’m the second-longest-serving player at the club after Alex Twal. I would love to continue here, but with the addition of new halves and the strong start to the season by the team, decisions need to be made about my future role.”
“I’ve always envisioned myself in the halves. I’ve focused on improving my fitness and agility, feeling better and lighter. Perhaps later in the year, I may come off the bench, wherever the team sees fit.”
