Former Michigan linebackers coach Chris Partridge, who departed the Wolverines in November amidst an NCAA investigation into alleged sign-stealing, is set to join the Seattle Seahawks as an outside linebackers coach, according to reports by Matt Zenitz. Partridge, with a tenure of six seasons split between two stints at Michigan, also served as co-defensive coordinator at Ole Miss from 2020-2022.
Addressing his departure from Michigan, Partridge clarified his stance, refuting any involvement in or knowledge of illegal scouting activities. He emphasized that his termination was related to a failure to comply with the university’s directive regarding the ongoing NCAA investigation, as conveyed by Athletic Director Warde Manuel and outlined in his termination letter signed by Doug Gnodtke, Michigan Athletics Chief of Staff.
Partridge initially joined the Michigan football staff in 2015 as director of player personnel under then-head coach Jim Harbaugh. He later assumed roles as special teams coordinator, linebackers coach, and safeties coach during his tenure. Departing for Ole Miss in 2020, Partridge served as co-defensive coordinator before returning to Michigan in 2023 as linebackers coach.
A New Jersey native, Partridge began his coaching journey at Paramus Catholic High School in 2003, eventually transitioning to collegiate coaching positions at Lafayette and The Citadel. Notably, he coached notable Division I players, including Jabrill Peppers during his time at Paramus Catholic.
Despite his departure from Michigan under unclear circumstances, Partridge aims to provide clarity on the events leading to his termination, offering insights into the situation more than a week after parting ways with the Wolverines.
