Sydney Roosters’ Sitili Tupouniua will undergo the NRL’s mandatory 11-day concussion protocols following a head injury during Thursday’s win over the Newcastle Knights. Tupouniua, who entered the game as a substitute, left the field after a brief appearance due to the injury’s severity, as assessed by the NRL’s independent doctor.
As a result, Tupouniua will miss the Roosters’ crucial Round 7 match against the Melbourne Storm before returning for the Anzac Day fixture against the St George Illawarra Dragons. The Roosters, in their injury update, assured that no other players sustained injuries during the match against the Knights.
Additionally, the Roosters expect James Tedesco and Sam Walker to return for the Melbourne clash after suffering concussions in the previous game against the Canterbury Bulldogs. While Tedesco’s return may be cautious due to his concussion history, both players are hopeful of being available for selection next weekend.
