LSU’s guard Hailey Van Lith has entered the transfer portal for the second consecutive season.
During her sole season with the Tigers, Van Lith maintained an average of 11.6 points and 3.6 assists. Her decision to enter the portal was confirmed by The Associated Press following LSU’s loss to Iowa in the Elite Eight, marking the end of their season.
Adding to LSU’s roster changes, star player Angel Reese has opted to forgo her final season of eligibility to enter the WNBA draft.
While Van Lith had the opportunity to declare for the draft, she also had the option to return for another season due to the NCAA granting an additional year of eligibility to athletes affected by the pandemic.
Previously, Van Lith played a significant role at Louisville for three years, helping the Cardinals reach the Final Four in 2022. Following their loss in the Elite Eight last year, she made the decision to transfer to LSU, emerging as one of the notable names in the transfer portal.
Transitioning to LSU as a graduate transfer, Van Lith assumed a less prominent offensive role. Reflecting on her journey before LSU’s Sweet 16 victory over UCLA, Van Lith expressed her determination to advocate for herself and fight for her success at the next level.
