“Oregon’s Newest Gems: Dynamic Duo Join Team as Coach Lanning Applauds Their Talent and Potential”

April 3, 2024

Two standout offseason acquisitions for Oregon, wide receiver Evan Stewart and cornerback Jabbar Muhammad, officially joined the team during spring break. Stewart, previously with Texas A&M, and Muhammad, formerly of Washington, both committed to transferring to UO in January, with this week marking the earliest opportunity for their enrollment and participation in the program. Their arrival also signals the first public acknowledgment of their addition by Oregon’s coaching staff.

Coach Dan Lanning expressed enthusiasm about the new additions after Tuesday’s practice, highlighting their impressive talent and eagerness to learn. Despite their late start, both Stewart and Muhammad demonstrated speed, confidence, and positive performance during practice, showcasing promising potential for the team moving forward.

Due to missing the initial two practices before spring break, Stewart, Muhammad, along with freshman offensive lineman Trent Ferguson and kicker Gage Hurych, wore soft “spider” pads instead of full shoulder pads like the rest of the team. However, they are expected to transition to full pads by Saturday.
