BREAKING: Former Green Bay Packers Trade Target, Jerry Jeudy, Traded to New Team

March 10, 2024

The Green Bay Packers have been involved in numerous trade discussions in recent seasons, often leaving fans frustrated with the team’s tendency to be “in conversation” without following through on player acquisitions.

Today, reports emerged that a former trade target of the Packers, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, has been traded to the Cleveland Browns for relatively modest draft capital. According to Vincent Pensabene of Gridiron Heroics, the Denver Broncos are parting ways with Jeudy, signaling a strategic shift for both teams ahead of the 2024 season.

Jeudy, who had a productive season with 54 receptions for 758 yards and two touchdowns, will bolster the Browns’ receiving corps alongside Amari Cooper, especially with quarterback Deshaun Watson returning to full health. While the specifics of the draft picks involved are yet to be finalized, the trade brings excitement for the Browns’ offense.

For the Broncos, accumulating draft picks appears to be a priority as they prepare for a rebuilding phase. Although trading away a talented receiver like Jeudy for Day 3 picks may seem underwhelming, the team is focused on addressing roster gaps before the start of training camp.

Playing on his fifth-year option, Jeudy’s salary is expected to be close to $13 million for the upcoming season before he becomes a free agent.

Meanwhile, the Packers’ receiving corps has seen promising performances from rookies Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks, along with strong contributions from Bo Melton and Romeo Doubs. With Christian Watson’s potential as a top talent, the group has the makings of an elite wideout unit.

Although Green Bay may lack a traditional No. 1 receiver like Davante Adams, the depth of talent among their No. 2 options could enhance the overall passing offense. Quarterback Jordan Love’s impressive debut season further underscores the potential of the Packers’ wide receiver group.
