Mario Nash Jr. Discusses Oregon Offer and the Latest Developments in His Growing Recruitment

It appears that Nash had been eagerly awaiting the offer from Oregon. “That was my favorite team growing up,” Nash said. “It was one that I really, really liked. And just to receive that offer today man. I was very excited, It made my day. “I spoke with the O-line coach and he sounds like a pretty cool coach. I’m looking forward to building a relationship with Coach Terry and Coach (Drew) house of course; I talked to him as well, I’m just ready to build a relationship and you know Oregon has the best uniforms in college football”

Following a successful 2023 season finishing with a 12-2 record, the Ducks have cemented themselves as one of the top teams in the sport, catching the attention of the 6-foot-4, 272-pound offensive lineman.

Oregon, to me, they’re like a heavyweight contender,  Nash remarked. Oregon has been playing very well in recent seasons and they were just a win away last year from competing i think they’re building a great program. In recent years, Oregon has developed a reputation for producing talented offensive linemen, such as NFL players like Penei Sewell and Jackson Powers-Johnson, the 2023 Rimington Trophy winner. I think the coaches do a great job of preparing guys for the next level as well.

I’ve seen many offensive linemen from Oregon making it to the NFL. So, I know they have great talent and development there”  Nash’s standout performance at the Under Armour camp in Atlanta earned him offensive line MVP honors, drawing more attention from colleges and potentially prolonging his recruitment process. “I was thinking of winding down because I only had the offers that I had.

But there are many schools that I preferred in terms of offers. However, after attending the camp in Atlanta and performing well, and winning the MVP of the Under Armour camp, it opened the door for some other schools to start recruiting me again. I’m just enjoying the process. But I do want to try to secure offers from the schools I’m interested in and hopefully wrap up my recruitment by the end of the summer.

Like many high school recruits, Nash is eager to resume campus visits next month and has several schools lined up, including his first trip to Eugene. I have trips planned for March, he said. I’ll be visiting Clemson first, then LSU, Missouri, Penn State, and I think that’s about it for March. Also, Florida State. I’ll do my best to visit Oregon because that’s new and one that I’m really interested in focusing on.

On a personal note, Nash shared a bit about his off-field interests. I’ve played basketball, baseball, and done track at home, I just like to spend time with family. I have three sisters and one brother. I enjoy cutting hair; I’m a barber, i cut a lot of my teammates’ hair and ultimately want to pursue that professionally. I also play the keyboard and drums at my church.
