Liverpool’s injury predicament worsens as forward Diogo Jota faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, while midfielder Curtis Jones and goalkeeper Alisson Becker remain without a definitive return date.

Jota and Jones join a growing list of sidelined senior players, totaling nine, which presents a challenging situation for Liverpool, especially with the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea looming on Sunday and the club competing on multiple fronts.

“Diogo’s knee issue has ruled him out, and it’s clear that he will be sidelined for months,” revealed manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of the midweek fixture against Luton. “Alisson, with a muscle injury, and Curtis, with a bone/ligament issue, are also unavailable.”

Klopp outlined the uncertain status of other injured players, stating, “We are managing the situation day by day. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai are progressing in their recovery but are not yet ready for team training.”

In addition to Jota, Jones, and Alisson, Liverpool’s injury list includes midfielders Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic, and center-back Joel Matip, who is recovering from an ACL injury. Furthermore, striker Darwin Nunez was substituted at halftime during Saturday’s victory over Brentford as a precautionary measure.
